The no-cost screenings were given by YSU nursing students.  Any glasses that are needed will be provided free of charge.

In June, Liberty High School junior Aaron Medina was appointed to the Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department's Reclamation, Repurpose and Preserve Public Lands Steering Committee.   He was appointed by Youngstown Lifeguard Academy Captain Luther C. Bell to serve as the 1st Vice Chair of the committee. In the absence of the committee's chairperson at the October meeting of the  Reclamation, Repurpose and Preserve Public Lands Steering Committee, the 16-year-old was called to duty to run the entire meeting.

In partnership with Akron Children’s Hospital School Health Services, it is our pleasure to offer on-site flu vaccinations at your student’s school on Wednesday November 3rd.  Flu clinics will be offered at each school location during school hours. Health Heroes flu vaccination clinics are completely voluntary and are offered to ALL consented students, regardless of their insurance coverage.

We celebrated our summer reading students on Thursday, October 7, 2021, by treating them to Kona Ice! Our summer reading initiative kicks off each spring and is open to all students. Depending on the students’ grade levels, they are encouraged to either read for a certain amount of time each day or make it through a certain number of books over the summer. Students who met their goal this summer enjoyed the cool treat during our annual Mystery Party, which celebrates their hard work!
