Greetings Liberty Families,
As I write this letter, the school year will be coming to a close in the next two days. To say that this past year has been a challenge, would not give adequate words to what so many of our school community have faced. We have all dealt with formidable issues, difficult decisions, personal losses, and more. And, we have risen to the challenges and conquered our “giants.”
It is now, however, time to plan for next year. Several changes have already been put in place to realign our administration and staff, which all families will become more informed throughout the summer. We are all accountable for ensuring that Liberty is and becomes a place where ALL students should be challenged, engaged, and maybe most importantly, feel safe and secure.
Our goal is to continually engage families in supporting the needs of our students and staff. As has been said many times, we cannot do this work alone. It will always take a village….and WE are ALL accountable for this work. We can never be satisfied or think that we have done enough. Tom Brady and LeBron James will never say that they are good enough. So, we are working harder each day to be better when school begins on August 28, 2022.
We want all students to know that they also must be held accountable and to that extent, Liberty will provide a four (4) tier system for instruction for all students in grades 7-12. Alternative options will also be in place for PK-6 students with discipline issues, as all students can succeed at different levels. Details will be on our website and documented in our handbook, which will be reviewed and revised by committees of Principals, staff, and parents.
Tier One: Students perform as expected and remain in the traditionally scheduled classes.
Tier Two: Due to behavioral issues, students will be scheduled in a “flexible” classroom for a minimum of one semester.
Tier Three: Students will be scheduled into the online Leopard Cyber Academy for the remainder of the year.
Tier Four: Students will be removed from Liberty.
Our goal is to have all Liberty students remain in Tier One instruction throughout their 7-12 years.
There is much work to be done to ensure that everyone is informed and engaged and that our plans align with our District goals. We are hopeful that changes to how we communicated with our Leopard families have been effective and we appreciate your feedback on all matters Liberty.
Best wishes on a safe and relaxing summer.
